The Chicago Showband was formed in 2002 by Shirley Gordon and Musical Director John Nicholson with a grant from the Prospect City Council. Since then the band has played in many functions and events such as nursing homes, libraries, Xmas pageants and community events etc.
One of the aims was to take people with limited or no musical experience and teach them how to play or relearn to play an instrument that would work in a band environment.
We're based in Adelaide's North Western suburbs and the band was named after the original name of the suburb of Kilburn.
Another objective of the band is to give enjoyment to as many people as possible without any cost where ever possible.
Chicago Showband is always available to play at worthwhile charity or community events for a small fee.
To see if your event qualifies to have Chicago Showband play for you just contact Mark Butt and have a chat.

Did you learn an instrument at school and wished you had kept up with it ?
Now you can start up where you left off.
In the Chicago Showband we have players of all skill levels and ages.
We even have a few instruments that you can hire for a modest fee.
Why not come out to one of our rehearsals and see what we're about ?
We'd be delighted to see you.
We don't care what level of skill you have. We even have beginners who play with us and enjoy playing in a group situation.
On Sunday evening Oct 26, 2014 Mark Butt, John Bywaters & Foss Smith were interviewed by Allan Waldron on Coast FM 88.7.
